Forever will be, my "to live by"
I have always loved this quote. For so many years, I go back to this time to time and simply think "yes." I have always adapted this on how I want to live.
I used to write it on those notepads in hotels hoping the maids would read them before tossing them, optimistically hoping it resonates with them. Haven't done it in a while. Going to restart my made up tradition hehe.
To live by.
"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded."
Thank you for this and so much more Ralph Waldo Emerson.
